Kieran Heid
Board Member
Kieran Heid is an admitted lawyer and policy professional with experience across governance, academic research, and public policy. He was an Erasmus Mundus Scholar in the International Law of Global Security, Peace and Development (ILGSPD) programme (Cohort 3, 2023–2025), graduating with Distinction from the Human Rights and Migration pathway and receiving the IBEI Research Project Award (2023–2024).
Kieran brings formal governance experience from his service as an elected member of the University of Canberra Council, the University’s peak decision-making body, where he contributed to institutional-level strategic and policy discussions. He has supported academic publishing through roles as Editorial Assistant at the Glasgow Centre for International Law and Security and Research Assistant at the Canberra Law School, focusing on legal analysis, editorial review, and preparing research outputs for publication.
Professionally, Kieran has worked as a policy adviser in the Australian Government, contributing to legislative reform projects and published policy analysis, and has practised law in private practice. As a Board Member of POLIscope, he is committed to strong governance, editorial rigour, and advancing the organisation’s mission to deliver high-quality, policy-relevant research.
